About Chrissy Holm

I write to understand myself, to be understood, to create something beautiful, to leave something behind, and to connect with others across the page.

I'm Chrissy Holm — a queer nonbinary writer whose stories are rooted in the personal: identity, faith, family, and the ongoing work of figuring out who I am. I grew up being told exactly who I was supposed to be. Writing has been how I find truth ever since. My debut memoir, Finding Sunlight, came from that place. So does everything else that’s brewing next.

When I'm not writing, I'm lost in a book, in a writing group, or taking a class. I believe the community you build around yourself matters just as much as the words on the page.

Off the page, you might find me floating somewhere in the Twin Cities, chasing a soccer ball, rock climbing and dancing with my five-year-old, reflecting on life with my spouse, or sitting at a library or coffee shop with a cup of tea. I'm a listener at heart, deeply curious about people and the stories they carry.

I'm glad you're here!

For the Press

  • Chrissy Holm (they/she) is an overthinker, a self-aware people-pleaser, a queer nonbinary writer, and a listener who eventually found their voice on the page. They grew up being told exactly who they were supposed to be, and have been writing about identity, healing, and growth to find the truth in themselves ever since.

Their debut memoir, Finding Sunlight, is a coming-of-age reckoning with purity culture, sexuality, and a patriarchal father-daughter relationship — a story of forgiveness and what love can look like on your own terms. It won the IPPY Awards Bronze Medal for LGBTQ+ Nonfiction and was a finalist for the National Indie Excellence Awards. They are currently at work on their next book.

Chrissy is an active participant in writing communities and a lifelong student of the craft, having pursued ongoing development through programs including the Loft Literary Center. They also work with businesses and creators through Ink Trail Consulting, offering writing, editing, and operations support.

They host Stirred By Words, a podcast on words, writing, and wellness, and bring a background in public health to everything they do — on and off the page. They live in Minneapolis with their spouse, kiddo, and dog, and can be found at www.chrissyholm.com.
