Willpower (noun) - energetic determination, control of one's impulses and actions; self-control, the ability to control your thoughts and behavior, especially in difficult situations.
As we wrap up another month, I'm reflecting on my word of 2020. We've been through friend and family matters like death, moving away, and mental, relationship, and other health issues to seeing continued racial injustice, police brutality, and a pandemic. It's been a hell of a year with multiple difficult situations.
How can you stay calm, motivated, and have strength during times like these? It takes a splash of bravery, a dash of focus, a handful of determination to take action and make changes, and a cup of willingness to admit that not everything is in your control. It takes several doses of adaptability and endless love for those around us.
For me, this means finding something to be grateful for every single day. For me, this means standing up and supporting a movement. For me, this means reading other's stories and writing to keep my sanity. For me, this means spreading compliments, offering help, and loving my family, friends, and the community around me.
What does it mean for you?
